04.02.2021 13:02, Bobojon Ghafurov district
As part of his working tour of Sughd Province, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon took part in the creation of an intensive garden with a modern drip irrigation system, and a modern greenhouse in the Sartukay area of Yova community of the Bobojon Ghafurov district.
The intensive orchard has been created by the head of the Boghparvari Sughd Abdumubin Abdushukurov in place of the old orchard. Varieties of Spanish apricots and almonds will be planted here.
The garden is part of a larger goal of the government, falling under the third stage of the program of expanding gardening and vineyards for 2016 – 2020.
In his address to the Supreme Assembly President Rahmon noted that as part of the implementation of programs on the development of individual sectors, the area of orchards and vineyards in the country has reached more than 200,000 hectares, increasing by over twofold compared to 1991.
During the meeting with farmers, he noted that the creation of new intensive orchards will create new jobs and increase the export of fruits. He spoke highly of the farmers’ work and encouraged them to use the existing capacity to cultivate different types of agricultural products as the situation with food supply around the world is worrying, and its impact, especially in the post-crisis period, is reaching Tajikistan.
“In this regard, only the targeted use of our natural resources, including water and land, will guarantee food security and increase the supply of domestic products into our market,” Rahmon said.
During the tour, he also inspected the new intensive garden in the territory of Vahdati Milli Garden in Bobojon Ghafurov district which focuses on black plums.
As of January 1, 207 hectares of intensive gardens have been created in the Sughd Province, of which 10 hectares are super-intensive gardens.
One of the main objectives of the development of innovative methods of horticulture, along with the provision of the domestic consumer market with fruits and vegetables, is to increase the export potential of our country.
Further, President Rahmon inspected the fish farm within the same garden. At present, 13,000 fish of various species are grown in four fish ponds with a total area of about 1.4 hectares.
In order to implement the Fisheries Development Program, about 15,000 fish of different species have been released into these basins.
