Participation in the 2nd Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian Nations

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part in the 2nd Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian Nations in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov also attended the meeting, wherein they discussed a wide range of pressing issues, including regional cooperation in trade, economy and investment, the development of transport infrastructure, science and technology, culture, humanitarian and security issues.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his appreciation for President Mirziyoev’s warm welcome and for hosting the meeting.
“Since gaining state independence, Tajikistan has been committed to supporting the strengthening and development of multifaceted partnership between the countries,” said President Emomali Rahmon.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon noted that cooperation, especially in water resource issues is of vital importance to Central Asian nations, and focused the attention of the meeting to the problems and solutions to global warming and disaster risk reduction.
The leaders also touched upon regional security issues and the fight against modern threats and challenges.
Following the meeting, the leaders signed the Joint Statement of Heads of State of Central Asian Nations and the work plan for the organization of the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian Nations.
At the end of the meeting, Tajikistan assumed the presidency of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) which will continue for the next three years, starting in 2020. President Emomali Rahmon will serve as the elected Chairman of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
