Participation in the meeting of CIS Heads of State Council

On October 11, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part in a meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Ashgabat.
Also present were the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of Moldova Igor Dodon, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergei Lebedev.
The meeting began in a narrow-format followed by an expanded meeting joined by the heads of delegations.
The discussion involved the issues of cooperation within the framework of the CIS, summarizing Turkmenistan presidency and other items on the agenda included in the transference of the CIS presidency 2020 to Uzbekistan as well as regional and international issues.
In his delivered address, President Emomali Rahmon stressed that within the framework of its membership in the CIS Tajikistan has always been committed to the development of cooperation among member states in all fields.
It was also highlighted that multilateral economic cooperation, strengthening of the joint struggle against threats and challenges, and expansion of humanitarian ties are the successful and significant results of the integration between the parties in previous years.
President Emomali Rahmon noted that the development of the international situation is currently characterized by an increase in the level of global and security threats. In such circumstances, the successful maintenance of the common interests of the CIS largely depends on further coordinated actions.
President Emomali Rahmon said that the consistent implementation of the previously reached decisions in the relevant areas of cooperation is of paramount importance.
Following the meeting, the Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation of CIS Member States was adopted. Uzbekistan will assume the chairmanship for 2020, while Turkmenistan and Belarus will co-chair.
In this context, the President Emomali Rahmon noted the successful activities of Turkmenistan during the presidency of the CIS.
The head of state congratulated the Uzbekistani side on assuming the chairmanship for 2020 and wished the head of this friendly and neighborly state success in fulfilling his highly responsible chairmanship.
The results of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS were summed up at a press conference with the participation of a wide range of correspondents.
